Legislative Battles

AT&T FLORIDA: 2009 CONSUMER CHOICE AND PROTECTION ACT – MARKET PARITY LEGISLATION

With a major legislative push in 2009, which had a negative first impression from the public and opinion writers, the communications plan for AT&T’s 2009 Legislative Session goal proved to be a difficult task. Through third-party activation and a strategy that entailed minimizing the presence of the big telecomm industry, Sarah Bascom and Kristen Bridges assisted with the successful legislation campaign that resulted in one of the most successful floor votes in AT&T Florida history.

By assisting with reporter outreach, reporter and key columnists education, along with one-on-one coordination with both sponsors and supportive members of the Legislature, this successful communications plan focused more on defense, opposed to offense, ultimately delivering a win.
